Unless you use Cydia, there’s no other way to install iPhone 2.0 apps without going through iTunes and you can definitely forget about installing official first party apps that way… or can you? Some ingenious hackers have manage to crack the official first party Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D app from Vivendi, turning the $9.99 game into a free one. Want to learn how to install CBNK on your own 2.0 iPhone for free? The steps are fairly involved, meaning there’s no silver bullet Pwnage-like application to do it for you, but the reward is worth the effort. For those of you who remain unfazed, read on.
- Download the ~7MB cracked version of Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D. and unzip the package which will be a “iFuse.app” folder.
- Get your iPhone connected to your wireless network and find out your iPhone’s IP address.
- Your iPhone needs to be running 2.0 firmware and be jailbroken. So you must have Cydia installed. Download and install OpenSSH and optionally Toggle SSH for your iPhone.
- OpenSSH should be running on your iPhone now. For added security, Toggle SSH allows you to enable or disable the SSH daemon. While it’s disabled, no one will be able to SSH into your iPhone. But since you’re going to do this, make sure you enable it.
- FTP to your iPhone, logging in as user “root” with password “alpine.”
- Copy “iFuse.app” folder to your iPhone’s “/Applications” folder using your FTP program. Set the permissions on this folder to 775. Permissions can be set in a similar manner to this FileZilla screenshot. This dialog was brought up by right clicking on the “iFuse.app” folder on the iPhone and selecting “File Attributes…” Also note that while installing you need to keep your iPhone from going to sleep so surf the web or something while the files transfer.
- After the copy completes create the two “Documents” folders “/var/mobile/Documents” and “/Applications/Documents.” Set the permissions on these folders to 777.
- Close your FTP program. If you installed Toggle SSH, you can disable the SSH daemon. Turn your iPhone off and then back on and enjoy free Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D.

hi, i installed super monkey ball using the above method, and it works fine, but when i install crash bandicoot or spore or any other games, it just doesnt work. Do i have to repeat all the above steps with the same permission of 775 and 777?? Also, do i have to create a new folder of document?

Did all steps mentioned above. files copy over ok but no icon on the home screen. all iFuse files are set to 775 and the 2 documents folders are set to 777. can any1 Help?

I found that if you go to the folder itself under applications… and open iFuse select all the files and just set the permissions to all of them to 775 it will work just fine… your problem is you can’t execute the file… that’s all it is..

I was running f.w. 2.0.1 and upgraded to 2.1 yesterday. After installing this onto my phone setting permissions etc. it kicked my wifi off. Reconnected to winscp and received an error messeage finally was able to reconnect. Now it looks like my folders names have changed? My applications folder now is called “Applications.v3oe0H” this is the one in “stash” folder. Is this something to be worried about is is this the way its named under new fw 2.1
