Unless you use Cydia, there’s no other way to install iPhone 2.0 apps without going through iTunes and you can definitely forget about installing official first party apps that way… or can you? Some ingenious hackers have manage to crack the official first party Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D app from Vivendi, turning the $9.99 game into a free one. Want to learn how to install CBNK on your own 2.0 iPhone for free? The steps are fairly involved, meaning there’s no silver bullet Pwnage-like application to do it for you, but the reward is worth the effort. For those of you who remain unfazed, read on.

  1. Download the ~7MB cracked version of Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D. and unzip the package which will be a “iFuse.app” folder.
  2. Get your iPhone connected to your wireless network and find out your iPhone’s IP address.
    • iphone ip address
  3. Your iPhone needs to be running 2.0 firmware and be jailbroken. So you must have Cydia installed. Download and install OpenSSH and optionally Toggle SSH for your iPhone.
  4. OpenSSH should be running on your iPhone now. For added security, Toggle SSH allows you to enable or disable the SSH daemon. While it’s disabled, no one will be able to SSH into your iPhone. But since you’re going to do this, make sure you enable it.
    • toggle ssh
  5. FTP to your iPhone, logging in as user “root” with password “alpine.”
  6. Copy “iFuse.app” folder to your iPhone’s “/Applications” folder using your FTP program. Set the permissions on this folder to 775. Permissions can be set in a similar manner to this FileZilla screenshot. This dialog was brought up by right clicking on the “iFuse.app” folder on the iPhone and selecting “File Attributes…” Also note that while installing you need to keep your iPhone from going to sleep so surf the web or something while the files transfer.
    • ftp permissions
  7. After the copy completes create the two “Documents” folders “/var/mobile/Documents” and “/Applications/Documents.” Set the permissions on these folders to 777.
  8. Close your FTP program. If you installed Toggle SSH, you can disable the SSH daemon. Turn your iPhone off and then back on and enjoy free Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D.

  • Comment from ibob

I found that if you go to the folder itself under applications… and open iFuse select all the files and just set the permissions to all of them to 775 it will work just fine… your problem is you can’t execute the file… that’s all it is..

I was running f.w. 2.0.1 and upgraded to 2.1 yesterday. After installing this onto my phone setting permissions etc. it kicked my wifi off. Reconnected to winscp and received an error messeage finally was able to reconnect. Now it looks like my folders names have changed? My applications folder now is called “Applications.v3oe0H” this is the one in “stash” folder. Is this something to be worried about is is this the way its named under new fw 2.1

i cant save the game for some reason i deleted everything on my iphone and nothing

IT WORKS BUT I HAD EVERY PLM DOWN THE ROAD:

I have a 3g 2.2 jailbroken phone. with quickpwn windows vista

You cannot do this (or at least i couldn’t) with winscp you have to Download the filezilla client which honestly i like better. Even doing a SFTP in winscp didnt work nor ssh. So anyways start your SSH on ur iphone using toggle or whatever and then open filezilla follow the steps above.

When I first copied ifuse into applications my phone was asleep until i urgently woke it up midway during the copy lol (it had no effect so don’t panic if u did that, it is not the cause)

I then right clicked on properties gave it the 775 permission then opened ifuse the folder highlighted ALL files gave them the 775 and then created the two folders.Gave them the 777 However there was already a Documents folder in the applications folder so since you can’t created a new one i changed the orginally. I then closed the session. turned on and off my phone and … NOTHING

So i deleted SSH and restarted phone and … NOTHING

So I went back into filezilla and checked my settings again and omg! they changed! yes my ifuse was set at 774? wtf! and the documents set at 775. I was positive I did it right the first time so I changed it back. Repeated the unistall /reinstalled for SSH and NOTHING!

FINALLY i had to delete the pre existing “documents” folder and re-create a new one with a 777. Before i did this of course I copied and saved the original folder (which contained 2 files and when i double clicked filezilla said there orginally was missing) just in case it was valuable. I closed session. restarted phone.. NOTHING and then i uninstalled ssh and TADA! WORKED!!

Hope i helped someone cause I would be the one to have the most plms with :)

I then closed the out of zilla For me: this did not work. I had to delete this folder and re-create a new one. Inside the orginal were 2 files “ad” and “?” but I tried opening them first b4 delete and it says they were missing their root folders so i said F*ck it (delete)

I also had to uninstall ssh and reinstall. I had every plm in the b

any ideas on how to get the “filesystems full do you want to continue anyway?” message off? the game works fine i just cant save
    Thanks

  • Comment from Hans

Thanks, I got it to work.

Put the Ifuse.app document to 755 permission and everything inside to 755 then reboot and uninstall OpenSSH.

  • Comment from ed

i just went to winter board and took my theme off and boom everything was there. i think that is because winterboard resets springboard, hope it helps.
