Brendan Laroux: a true hero for mankind.
Lost his limbs as a child (hands and legs) but even that doesn’t stop him from his dreams. Inspired me hella a lot

As promised, we told you that when the iPhone Dev Team releases the Pwnage 2.0 Tool, we’d let you know about it. Their site is pretty slow right now with everyone downloading the tool like mad so count yourself lucky that you’re here on Code Retard right here right now because we’re providing for you lucky bastards. Sorry all Windows users, but right now it’s only for Mac users. There is a workaround regarding a Pwnage 2.0 created IPSW though. Read more »

And if you happen to have the old school 2.5G first-gen iPhone, you’re in luck because the iPhone Dev Team, makers of the popular Pwnage Tool for unlocking and jailbreaking iPhones, have just declared that Pwnage 2.0 will also be able to unlock iPhones with v2.0 firmware installed. Again, the release date for Pwnage is still fuzzy and so is the process. When we hear about it, you’ll hear about it. Read more »

“Xbox 360 will sell more consoles worldwide this generation than PlayStation 3,” Don Mattrick, a senior vice president at Microsoft’s Xbox division boasted to kick off E3 earlier this week. Well let’s see how that works out Mr. Mattrick. As it stands today, the Xbox 360 has sold over 19.7 million units worldwide, 5.5 million units more than Sony’s 14.2 million units. The graph above indicates cumulative worldwide sales for the three major consoles over the past two years. The red PS3 curve comes into the picture after the two-year period snapshot starts while the green Xbox 360 curve has had a head start on the market. Read more »

Sony announced during E3 that it would be releasing its larger 80GB capacity PS3s this fall at the current 40GB PS3 price point of $399. No news on what will happen to the 40GB PS3, if could also get a price cut or simply get replaced by the 80GB altogether. What is know is the 80GB will have no new functionality over the current 40GB. That probably means it’s still only got 2 USB ports and it probably won’t get any new hardware to support PS2 backwards compatibility. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing is really up for interpretation. If you think Sony’s just dropping the PS2 support altogether, this seems like a plausible explanation. However, if you believe the German Sony supplier, it also makes sense that there is no hardware change as the rumor is a firmware update coming in October could unlock PS2 backwards compatibility for current 40GB and future 80GB PS3 owners.

The “The Cordless Keyboard for Wii” as it’s officially called is also officially licensed by Nintendo and rightly so, with such sleek design that matches very well with Nintendo’s Wii white themed hardware. The keyboard isn’t just any regular keyboard as it’s got Nintendo specific functions for zooming in and out, forward and back for browsing, and quit and OK to make surfing the web on the Wii Internet Channel as natural as possible. The full-sized Logitech keyboard weighs only 1.5lb and is fully wireless, utilizing a 2.4GHz frequency USB receiver attached on the Wii’s end. Expect the keyboard to hit store shelves next month for $50.

I know, I know, it’s been like over a week since the PS3 2.41 firmware update came out, but it’s news to me and it might still be for some of you. Plus we’ve been neglecting the PS3 with all our iPhone coverage lately so I felt it deserved some time in the limelight. So if you haven’t fired up that PS3 lately, you’ll have the option to upgrade to the stable 2.41 version (remember 2.40 got pulled by Sony for bricking PS3s) and start enjoying the new shameless-Xbox-Achievements-ripoff Trophies feature.
