The latest sales numbers are in, and Nintendo reported Wii sales of 171,851 units in Japan for the month of July. While the PSP continues to ride a wave of strong sales in Japan, the Wii-rival PS3 only sold 54,823 units last month, allowing the Nintendo Wii to outsell it by 3-to-1 according to game magazine Enterbrain. But all is not lost for Sony as the PSP remains the king of sales in Japan, hustling 256,765 units out the door compared to the Nintendo DS’s 217,639, certainly not too shabby in its own right and not very far behind. The PSP’s newfound usefulness as not just a gaming platform but also a handy media and mobile device as launched its sales over recent months as more and more gamers snap them up. Read more »

It’s no secret that the Nintendo Wii is winning the console sales war domestically and internationally with almost 30 million sold worldwide. /* Filed under Hardware, Nintendo, Wii */

logitech wii keyboard

The “The Cordless Keyboard for Wii” as it’s officially called is also officially licensed by Nintendo and rightly so, with such sleek design that matches very well with Nintendo’s Wii white themed hardware. The keyboard isn’t just any regular keyboard as it’s got Nintendo specific functions for zooming in and out, forward and back for browsing, and quit and OK to make surfing the web on the Wii Internet Channel as natural as possible. The full-sized Logitech keyboard weighs only 1.5lb and is fully wireless, utilizing a 2.4GHz frequency USB receiver attached on the Wii’s end. Expect the keyboard to hit store shelves next month for $50.

genplus sega genesis emulator

Genesis Plus emulates a Sega Genesis or MegaDrive console. It has been originally written by Charles MacDonald and ported to the Nintendo GameCube by the “Genesis Plus” Team.

It is an open source emulator and a community project which aims to bring you blast processing into the past. Using this “emulator” you will be able to enjoy all of your classic 16-bit games in all of their glory. Genesis Plus has been converted from a PC based platform to run on the GameCube’s proprietary PPC Gekko processor and features customized code to give you the best gaming experience possible.

This port is based on Genesis Plus 1.2 source code but it has been largely modified to improve overall compatibility, emulation accuracy as well as adding various peripheral supports and interface extra features. Read more »

Wii Twilight Hack Now Working with v3.3 Menu Update

/* Posted June 23rd, 2008 at 12:04am [Comments: 9] */
/* Filed under Mods, Nintendo, Wii */

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
The “Twilight Hack” is a way to safely run homebrew on an unmodded Nintendo Wii. Today the 0.1beta1 version came out with workaround support for the newest Wii System Menu update v3.3. A mere days after Nintendo patched the exploit in v3.2 with 3.3, this Twilight Princess homebrew launch hack is compatible with the latest Wii update. To run this hack, you need a Wii (duh), the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess that has been run at least once on your Wii, and an SD card. Read more »

Official Wii Update v3.3 Patches Twilight Hack

/* Posted June 16th, 2008 at 9:25pm [Comments: 2] */
/* Filed under Nintendo, Wii */

wii update v3.3

Nintendo released a new update for the Wii today, a version 3.3, that enhances the Mii Channel by adding an icon to allow moving of any Mii from the Plaza to the Parade by drag and drop. But that’s not the only thing v3.3 adds to the party. Gone is our beloved Twilight Hack, which was the source of all things homebrew in the Wii underground hacking world. That means you should only upgrade if you are absolutely sure there aren’t any homebrew that you’re going to miss. Personally, I’m going to wait on this one and see what happens.
