How to tether a iPhone 3.1.2 3Gs – Tethering iPhone 3.1.2

/* Posted January 19th, 2010 at 2:28am [Comments: 2]    */
/* Filed under Apple, Apps, How-To, iPhone    */

Tethering basically allows you to use your iPhone as a modem in order to share the internet connection with a computer. These steps are for a freshly restored 3gs 3.1.2 iphone. They may work in other cases, but that is what I have tested it on

Step 1:Jailbreak or Unlock your iPhone. I used http://blackra1n.com/ to do this

Step 2:From your iPhone, navigate to http://m.peacefulinsanity.com/Tether.mobileconfig and hit the install button and confirm. This will install the custom IPCC file.

Step 3:Reboot your iPhone.

Step 4:Go to Settings > General > Network > Internet Tethering and turn it on.

If the tethering option doesn’t show up, go to http://help.benm.at/help.php to install the tether profile, then restart

You’re done!

How to Remove NBA League Pass Restrictions on iPhone

/* Posted January 19th, 2010 at 2:09am [Comments: 4]    */

Fix NBA League Pass Restrictions on iPhone app

I borrowed some of the steps from Xsellize and added the section for what to change in your xml file:

With this hack you can lift any blackout restriction of NBA League Pass.

Instructions:

1. uninstall any previous patched version of NBA League Pass

2. delete all the scripts/cells.plist/caches.plist that you have downloaded and installed

3. reinstall NBA league pass from the bottom of this thread. DO NOT open NBA League Pass yet.

4. Go to Cydia or Rock and add our source http://freedomforiphone.com/Documents. Then download the League Pass Fix.

5. Launch NBA League Pass app and you will see everything is blackout, don’t worry just quit the app for now

6. Use iFile/ssh/WinScp to locate the folder/directory “Documents” under NBA League Pass.app, I would strongly suggest using iFile because it’s the easiest.
The folder is located at var/mobile/Applications/League Pass folder.

8. You will see a plist file inside the Documents folder, open and edit it:

Remove
Edit the Zip code to a location you want to fake

< ?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
< !DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

Latitude
61.222463000000002
Longitude
-149.867694000000006
ZipCode
99501
Save and quit

9. relaunch NBA League Pass and you should have a fully functional app !

Enjoy! It wont affect map or other location service based apps, and you can even have location service turned off.
And all credit to msft.guy, we all owe him a big one as this is custom made for us.
Mad props to msft.guy from FreedomforiPhone Blog, this shit works y’all. Get it.

How-To: Run 5.55 and 6.00 PSP games on 5.50 Custom Firmware

sony_psp_1

Every once in a while when Sony releases a new PSP firmware to block modded PSPs from running new games or homebrew apps, the PSP modding scene beats it into submission.  Though this time the release of CFW has slowed down considerably.

Anyone who might be trying to run new games releases are blocked from doing so because those new releases require either 5.55 or 6.00 firmware to launch.  Since the latest custom firmware only goes up to version 5.50 (5.50 gen b-2) we’re going to decrypt those game images rather than updating our custom firmware.  Note that this method is not a long term solution since Sony can easy block this method.  Also, not all games can be decrypted.

How to Skype on iPhone over 3G Network

/* Posted May 6th, 2009 at 10:03am [Comments: 2]    */
/* Filed under Apple, Apps, How-To, iPhone, iPod    */

Skype for the iPhone was a highly anticipated app recently released in the Apple App Store. Disappointingly, it did not allow use over the more prevalent 3G network, limiting itself to wifi only even though 3G had the necessary throughput for it. Apple claimed this restriction was imposed simply because it was a carrier-dependent decision since transferring data over the 3G could be costly for carriers (yeah right).

Nintendo’s system menu 4.0 update provided a long-awaited storage solution in the form of SDHC support up to 32GB. Whoopee. Now we’ll tell you how you can actually load Wii game backups off a hard drive with this Wii hard drive hack for a real storage solution. Taking advantage of Nintendo’s 4.0 update support a costly solution since you are required to buy pricey SDHC cards, and it’s limited in size as well. With the Wii hard drive hack we’re about to discuss, you can load games off any USB hard drive with much higher storage capacities. Expensive 32GB flash? Psh, try cheap 320GB HDD. And not only that, if you’ve got any USB stick pen drives lying around, they will work just as well. Plus to top it all off, you will see a huge performance benefit as your games will load much faster as they’re being read off the hard drive compared to the slower DVD disc drive.

How to Import Rock Band Songs into Rock Band 2 with Export Key (PS3)

Rock Band

If you own Rock Band 2, you may be keenly interested knowing how to import Rock Band songs into Rock Band 2 so that you can effectively double the number of songs to play. We personally find the original Rock Band songs a little more “accessible,” meaning there are more songs in the original that are familiar than in the sequel so if you just jumped straight into Rock Band 2, so do yourself a favor and import the original game songs. The trick is having a Rock Band 1 game disc available and buying something called an export key from the PSN (PlayStation Network) store. The process isn’t clearly documented anywhere, and game forums telling you “just get the export key” are vague and mysterious so we’re documenting the step by step instructions for PS3 with screenshots on how to import Rock Band songs into Rock Band 2.

How to Jailbreak iPod Touch 2G 2.2.1 (Untethered & No Custom Boot Logo)

Thanks to the advances made by the iPhone Dev Team, the iPod Touch 2G is finally jailbreak-able without requiring tethering to your computer or fiddling with boot modes. This is an unofficial redsn0w release for 2.2.1 firmware as the Pwnage and QuickPwn tools haven’t yet incorporated this unlock into the tool flow just yet, but eager iPod Touch owners who don’t want to wait can follow these relatively simple instructions to jailbreak and untether your iPod Touch 2G on 2.2.1 firmware.

StarCraft Running on PS3

Think this is impressive? Want to play StarCraft on your PS3 as well? It’s definitely possible. The requirements? You need to take advantage of your PS3′s little known capability to run Linux. Linux you ask? Yes, because that’s the only way to run Windows. Since StarCraft came out way back in the day when Windows 95 was king, that’s all you need to install on top of Linux through an emulation layer. Fortunately, the PS3 has enough horsepower to run Windows 95, even via software emulation, so StarCraft is actually playable. Just imagine it, playing StarCraft on your big screen TV! Read more »

Compare Directories and File Content in Linux without Dircmp

linux_abstract_msg

Dircmp is a great Linux tool that allows users to compare the directory contents of two similar directories in order to spot differences in between subdirectory structures or file content. However, dircmp is not a luxury afforded by all Linux distributions. CentOS, for example, does not include the dircmp tool and the source code is not easily available. Plus even if it was, who would want to spend time to build it when you can do the exact same thing with your trusty friend: diff.

How to Download Killzone 2 Demo

/* Posted February 16th, 2009 at 7:43am [Comments: 10]    */
/* Filed under How-To, PS3, Sony, Video Games    */

killzone2

Guerrilla striked a deal with gamespot that gave them exclusive Killzone 2 demos to give out to those who preordered the game.  The rest of the people who did not preorder the game will have to wait until release date (2/26).  The only way for those in the America to play the demo early is to make a PSN account that belongs to a  different region.  Simply go to the UK PSN page and make an UK account.  Log into your UK account on the PS3, and the Killzone 2 demo should be on the download list.  Enjoy!
