Get a Used Wii at GameStop for $249.99

Yes you read that right. A GameStop in Florida sold a returned Wii to a man at its full retail value at $249.99. When asked what justified selling a used product for a new price, the clerk explained, “The Wii is extremely hard to find, that’s why it’s $250 used.” What’s worse, the store managed to get the poor guy to buy the console at that price without even knowing if the warranty was still valid. Sure the Wii is hard to find but if you are patient and actively search (and are willing to line up a few hours before opening time on Sundays mornings) you should be able to procure a NEW unused Wii for $249.99. Either the patron didn’t realize this or else just didn’t care. Either way, we as consumers have to protest something like this when it happens by not buying. GameStop is a huge chain, it should be respectable. I can understand if a mom and pop shop did this for a quick buck, but why does GameStop need to do this? It only tarnishes their image. Stooping so low as to sell an old Wii for the price of a new one just goes to show you what a crummy place GameStop is.

Back in Stock: Refurb 8GB & 16GB iPhones from AT&T

/* Posted May 21st, 2008 at 12:05pm [Comments: none] */
/* Filed under Apple, Deals, iPhone */

Better act quick in case you missed the deal from last week. AT&T has refurbished iPhones back in stock now. Grab the 8GB iPhone for $249 or the 16GB iPhone for $349. No need for activation (and two year’s soul signing to AT&T) if you decide to unlock it.

Refurbished 8GB iPhone for $249, 16GB for $349 from AT&T

/* Posted May 14th, 2008 at 10:17am [Comments: 2] */
/* Filed under Apple, Deals, iPhone */

This is the same Apple iPhone deal from AT&T as last time except they’ve now got the 16GB in stock for $349! Hurry before supplies run out. According to Apple, once they’re gone, they’re gone. This is cheaper than the refurbs you can get direct from the Apple Store (if you could still get them). There’s no need to buy the 2 year activation contract if you plan to use your own SIM card and unlock your iPhone to use with your current GSM service (that would be either T-Mobile or AT&T). So what are you waiting for? Order it now from AT&T.

Intel Slashes Quad Core Prices By 50 Percent

/* Posted April 21st, 2008 at 10:59am [Comments: none] */
/* Filed under Deals, Hardware, Intel */

Intel Q6700 Price Cut

Hopefully you didn’t just go out and buy a shiny new Intel quad core Q6700 CPU a few days ago because you could have had two today for the price you probably paid. Though it was just a year ago that Intel announced similar price cuts, Intel again announced that it would be slashing the prices on select quad core and dual core processors this past Sunday. Most notably, the 2.66GHz Q6700 Core 2 Quad and 2.66GHz X3230 Xeon both had identical price drops from $530 to $226. The remaining price cuts, plus the pricing for a few new processors: Read more »

Samsung LN46A550P LCD HDTV

Yesterday, my long awaited Samsung 46″ LCD HDTV arrived and I had a ball of a time hooking it up with the rest of my electronics. The TV is a 5 series which has been very widely regarded in the Samsung TV owner community, and the one I bought sports a 30:000 contrast and 3 HDMI inputs among its standout qualities, all in 1080p. When I bought it, it was $1591, but right now it’s $1499 with free shipping and no tax to most states. If you’ve been shopping around, I strongly recommend this unit at this price!!! I have been monitoring the price like a hawk since I bought it for price adjustment and I’ve seen it fluctuate wildly from the price I bought it at up to $1630. Just a reminder though, make sure you are buying from Amazon (not Electronics Expo or some other retailer) to get the free shipping and price adjustment guarantee. Read more »
