Get Your Face In Max Payne 3 And Win A GTAIII Lithograph

/* Posted December 25th, 2011 at 3:20pm [Comments: none]    */
/* Filed under Video Games    */

Those of you subscribed to Rockstars mailing list will probably have received an e-mail regarding a couple of competitions. The first competition is to be one of eight people who will get their face as a multiplayer character in Max Payne 3, through the magic of e-mailing a picture of yourself when requested. How to get requested? Simply tweet on Twitter using the hashtag #MaxPayne3, and if you’re lucky you’ll get contacted from the guys at Rockstar. The time periods regarding the Twitterbased competition are available here.

The second competition is for a GTAIII lithograph which, for those less versed in art, means artwork that’s engraved or etched into metal. Six winners will be lucky enough to get these, and all you have to do is enter here , where you can also see the six designs. Naturally, this is due to the game celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, which makes me look very forward to what we’ll see in a few years for Vice City’s 10th year.

Atlus Bringing Game of Thrones RPG to U.S. Castles

/* Posted December 25th, 2011 at 3:19pm [Comments: none]    */
/* Filed under Video Games    */

Persona developer Atlus will handle U.S. publishing for a role-playing game based on the popular fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, it said this week.

Game of Thrones, named after both the first book in the series and its HBO television adaptation, will be out for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 early next year. French studio Cyanide, also responsible for strategy game A Game of Thrones — Genesis, is developing the RPG.

Atlus says you’ll play as “two former soldiers of Robert’s Rebellion who have made choices that led them in different directions.” Though you’ll be able to interact with familiar people and locations from the series, like the frigid northern Wall and the Night’s Watch that protects it from nasty enemies, your protagonists will be entirely new characters, created just for the game (under the supervision of series author George R.R. Martin).

A great way to pass the time while waiting for relatives to arrive or for those cookies to come out of the oven. Many games on the Android Market feature a Christmas or holiday theme for the season.

PS Vita Hello World Confirmed. HBL in the works for PS Vita!

/* Posted December 24th, 2011 at 9:19pm [Comments: none]    */
/* Filed under PSP    */

<!–<!–<!–Share

himself has just recently tested the save game exploit / Hello world PS Vita. He has confirmed the exploit tech4 ran day 1 of the PS Vita release here, is 100% legit.

Wololo has posted some video proof too (Below) for any skeptics. However we have to remember that is is an exploit on the PSP emulator side of the PS Vita. Its not a PS Vita exploit as such. No access to usr mode on the PS  Vita side of things. But it will let us run user mode homebrew on a PS Vita. And in itself is a great feat we should all be happy about.

All the PSP Emulators, homebrew apps and games that work on will work on the PS Vita via this PSP emulator . Which is being worked on now for the PS Vita. Yes that’s right, HBL is coming to the PS Vita. Wololo has mentioned this:

Spent a good amount of time today confirming some of my hopes that it will be possible to run HBL, at least to some extent, with that exploit. It doesn’t mean I have ported HBL to the Vita yet, but I have strong hopes this will be possible. A handful of hackers are working on bringing HBL to the Vita (I won’t mention their names here as I don’t know if they want to be contacted on the subject), and it should be “relatively” easy to get something to work fairly soon. (It should be noted though that the Vita is quite sensitive and crashed on me several times when it went into “sleep” mode from the exploit screen… from there – am I just paranoid? – it seems it is impossible to reboot the machine for almost 10 minutes, which made me think I had bricked my vita… could it be a anti-hacking security? If the console detects several crashes, it takes longer to boot, in order to prevent brusteforce types of attacks?)

I won’t discuss any release yet, it doesn’t depend on me only (this is, after all, Teck4?s exploit), but if I have my opinion to give on the subject, I would suggest to wait until the Vita is released in Europe and in the US. This gives us some time to polish HBL on this device, and hopefully the vulnerabilities we use to run HBL won’t have been patched by then.

This is of course just a challenge with little to no practical interest… once we publicly reveal the exploit (in particular, the game used in it), it will be extremely easy for Sony to patch it (or remove the game from the Playstation Store), so probably only a few people will be able to benefit from it… but only time will tell, there is still hope, after all, that Sony doesn’t care about a tool that allows us to run user mode psp homebrews in a sandboxed emulator.

Put a Moog synthesizer on your iPhone for 99 cents

/* Posted December 24th, 2011 at 3:19pm [Comments: none]    */
/* Filed under Web    */

The Animoog is loaded with features

(Credit:
Moog)

When Robert Moog originally pioneered the modular voltage-controlled analog synthesizer in the 1950s and 1960s, I don’t think he could have imagined the instrument’s tremendous impact on music.

Moog’s synthesizers continued to evolve, and his Minimoog became the most popular monophonic synthesizer of the 1970s; it was embraced by bands such as Yes and Tangerine Dream.

Robert Moog passed away in 2005, so I wonder what he would have thought of the Animoog, a fully featured synthesizer designed for the
iPhone 4 and 4S. According to the Moog Web site, “The Animoog captures the vast sonic vocabulary of Moog synthesizers and applies it to the modern touch surface paradigm, enabling any user to quickly sculpt incredibly fluid and dynamic sounds that live, breathe, and evolve as you play them.” You can record a performance and overdub new layers, play along live, and transfer recordings between Animoog and any other apps that support copy/paste. The Animoog is jam-packed with features.

The Animoog app has an introductory price of 99 cents, but the price will go up to around $10 in the near future.
