Apple fans in Hongkong have been eagerly awaiting the April release of the iPad w as promised, but it looks like it’s not happening this month.
Is the overwhelming demand for the iPad 2 causing delays in getting the popular device to the countries where it’s not yet on sale? It looks that way in this case. Apple announced an April release date for launching the iPad 2 in Hongkong, and buyers are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to get their hands on one, but we’re ten days into the month without a definite date.
The closest Apple has come to giving any reason for the silence is this statement from CEO Steve Jobs: “While competitors are still struggling to catch up with our first iPad, we’ve changed the game again with iPad 2. We’re experiencing amazing demand for iPad 2 in the US, and customers around the world have told us they can’t wait to get their hands on it. We appreciate everyone’s patience and we are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.”
But are they working hard enough to produce the number of iPad 2s necessary to satisfy the demand in Asia, where the device was expected to arrive in Korea and Singapore as well as Hongkong this month?
