QOTD: Should I Get Iphone When I Already Got Ipod Touch?

Every so often, Code Retard features a QOTD or “question of the day” post on various topics we find interesting. Hope you enjoy today’s question!
I got a iPod touch 1g and my phone contract is going to finish soon. So, I wanted to get an iPhone 3GS. But it seems like a waste as the iPod is about the same as the iPhone. Just without the phone functions. I mean, there is this iPod inside the phone. So, should I or should I not get the iPhone.
p.s. Or any of you have other good phones to recommend?
