Every so often, Code Retard features a QOTD or “question of the day” post on various topics we find interesting. Hope you enjoy today’s question!
my bf is getting a wii next month. im want to know what games are worth buying and are fun. im already waiting for silent hill: shattered memories and resident evil: darkside chronicles. what games are good? is escape to bug island any fun? is it worth getting? i like action,adventure, and horror games. im going to get mario and donkey kong for wii too.

Haha. Not very many.
The best ones are the Mario ones. Mario Party is a must, and Mario cart is good (if you have the steering wheel attachment)
Of course Nintendo makes their own creation have the most titles as well.
Most of the horror franchise Wii games are awful. Cheesy graphics and way to sensitive character movement makes them hard to play and takes away from the storylines.
If you are looking for actually good games, tell you bestfriend or boyfriend to check out a Xbox 360. With services like facebook, twitter, and netflix – the 360 is definitely the best console around.
Also, if you have that preconceived notion that Xbox’s are only for “hardcore” gamers, you are mistaken. The wide variety of games makes a Xbox the essential for fun of all different gamer types. (I just played my dad in Trivial Pursuit!)
Depends on your idea of fun…
Super Mario Galaxy – solid 1 player platformer, typical mario game but the graphics are gorgeous for the wii and a very well made game.
Metriod Prime 3 – one of the best games for the wii, period.
Raving Rabids – a good multiplayer game that features tons of small mini games that provide lots of entertainment. It sucks single player but with a group of people its a blast.
Warior Ware – same type of game like Raving Rabids.
Paper Mario – a unique RPG type platform game with great story/dialogue. One of my favorite games from Nintendo.
Zelda Twilight Princess – the graphics on this game are really sub par, but I like the gameplay and storyline. Plus swinging the nun chuk like a sword is a lot of fun.
Super Mario Bros. Brawl – a unique fighting style multiplayer game with a relatively decent single player storyline. I was actually surprised at how long and fun the single player part of this game was. All the unlockables are also pretty cool. The promise of good online gameplay though was a lie…its horrible.
Those are all the good games I can think of off the top of my head. The thing that sucks about the wii is it isn’t short in the amount of games there are out there…but a good game is REALLY hard to come by. There are hundreds upon hundreds of wii games and maybe like 10 really good ones so if you are unsure rent before purchasing. You could EASILY waste a ton of money quickly on bad software.
