How-To: Run 5.55 and 6.00 PSP games on 5.50 Custom Firmware

Every once in a while when Sony releases a new PSP firmware to block modded PSPs from running new games or homebrew apps, the PSP modding scene beats it into submission. Though this time the release of CFW has slowed down considerably.
Anyone who might be trying to run new games releases are blocked from doing so because those new releases require either 5.55 or 6.00 firmware to launch. Since the latest custom firmware only goes up to version 5.50 (5.50 gen b-2) we’re going to decrypt those game images rather than updating our custom firmware. Note that this method is not a long term solution since Sony can easy block this method. Also, not all games can be decrypted.
To start, we will need a PSP with 5.50 gen b-2 installed (see one of our other How-To guides to see how to install a cfw). We will also need the following softwares:
Yoshihiro’s PSP Games Decrypter
Lets get started!
1. Open the Yoshihiro’s game decrypter archive we just downloaded and copy the folder named ‘GameZDecryptZ’ into the “X:\PSP\GAME\” folder, so it looks like “X:\PSP\GAME\GameZDecryptZ\”
2. Open up the desirable ISO with UMDgen
3. In UMDgen, go to to file->file list->export and save ‘filelist.txt’ into any directory on your computer. Don’t worry about it for now, we will need it later to rebuild the ISO.

4. Copy the file PSP_GAME\SYS_DIR\EBOOT.bin into the root of your PSP memory stick, so it looks like PSP:\EBOOT.bin
5. Go to PSP XMB menu>Games>Memory Stick>Games Decrypter Yoshihiro and run the app
6. Press X when prompted (again, decryption may fail for some games such as ‘Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2‘)
7. Connect the PSP to the PC again and there will be a folder named ‘DECRYPTOR’ in the root of our memory stick. The folder will contain the decrypted EBOOT.bin that we need.
8. Drag it into the UMD directory PSP_GAME\SYS_DIR\ and replace the original EBOOT.bin (don’t worry about the filesize being similar)
9. Now we’re going to rebuild the ISO. Go to file->filelist->import and choose the filelist.txt that we saved in step 3
10. Press ‘yes’ at the prompt
11. In UMDgen go to file->save as->uncompressed iso (actually doesn’t really matter which format we choose)
12. Copy the new ISO into your PSP:\iso\ and play!

thanks for information, this good reviews
Hel yeah, Bought GT but did not want to upgrade to new OFW. This worked!!! I now not only have GT running off my stick but running under older CFW.
