If error 1601 comes up, then you must pick wrong file choosing restore source. Follow John instractions, it worked with me too. Open itunes and hold down SHIFT and click restore. Now select iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Restore.ipsw if u cant find it then click on OriginalFW.ipsw as u renamed it. It will sync back.
