[ # ] How to Fix iTunes Contacts Syncing Forever

This problem occurs during the sync with your iPhone with misaligned backup images. What happens is iTunes displays its sync status and seems to progress until it displays “Syncing Contacts.” At this point iTunes is stuck and hangs forever and does not complete until you cancel the sync with your iPhone. The solution requires you to delete the old backup files but is a small price to pay to let the iPhone sync completely again.

Launch iTunes and click on Edit -> Preferences… to bring up the preferences dialog.
Click on the rightmost tab labeled “Syncing”
Delete any backup images you might have. In this picture there are two. Delete by selecting the backup and clicking the “Remove Backup” button for each backup.
Then click on the “Reset Sync History” button.
