Imagine Windows Vista, PS3 running together in harmony. Then take that picture and slow it down about a thousand times. That’s what to expect when you decide you want to install Windows Vista on your PS3. There’s no reason why you should do this as it’s completely unusable (consider the 25 minute boot time to start it up) plus you need Linux installed first just so you can get the emulation layer in place to run Windows Vista on PS3 hardware, but if you really want to be l33t h4×0r or are just really bored, simply follow these steps to install Windows Vista on your PS3.

  1. If you haven’t already, you need to install Linux on your PS3 before you can continue since Windows Vista is run on 100% emulation.
  2. Install/Download Qemu 0.9.1
  3. Download Bochs Bios Rev 1.171
  4. Install Vista on your Computer using Qemu and Bochs Bios Rev 1.171.
  5. Vlite helps speed the install up, Warning: Vista’s install make take a day or so.
  6. You may also need to add this command “-cpu pentium3″ for Qemu to work right.
  7. Copy the .IMG to your PS3’s HDD
  8. Open Terminal where the Vista IMG is located
  9. Type:qemu -hda vista.img -m 256 -L "Location to Rev 1.171, Drag n Drop" -cpu pentium3(The -cpu pentium3 option makes it so it doesn’t BSOD with error code 7F)
