And if you happen to have the old school 2.5G first-gen iPhone, you’re in luck because the iPhone Dev Team, makers of the popular Pwnage Tool for unlocking and jailbreaking iPhones, have just declared that Pwnage 2.0 will also be able to unlock iPhones with v2.0 firmware installed. Again, the release date for Pwnage is still fuzzy and so is the process. When we hear about it, you’ll hear about it.
Just know that whether you’ve got an iPhone 2.5G, iPhone 3G, or an iPod, you will be able to jailbreak all of them on v2.0 firmware. This means you can still enjoy all the great third-party apps out there. The lucky ones, for now, will be those with the first-gen iPhones who run v2.0 firmware, as Pwnage 2.0 will also support unlocking.
To summarize the Pwnage 2.0’s initial feature set:
