McFarlane Toys will be making a line of 6-inch figures based on the wildly successful Guitar Hero video game. The four action figures, Johnny Napalm, Axel Steel, God of Rock, and Lars Ãœmlaut are actual characters in the game and trumpet the first wave of figures in a series to come. Each figure will have at least 15 opposable parts including a removable guitar. The retail price will vary from $10 to $15 depending on the character. MacFarlane is set to release the first Guitar Hero series figures in November to accompany the release of Guitar Hero World Tour.

Gibson Files Suit Against Viacom, Electronic Arts
(Gaming Industry News) Gibson Guitar filed a patent-infringement lawsuit against two Viacom units and Electronic Arts over guitar-playing videogame "Rock Band." Activision filed its federal suit after Gibson allegedly notified Activision that it believed the "Guitar Hero" software and its controller were covered by a Gibson patent. Sales of GH have passed $1B. Go Figure
