Wii Fix Disc Unbricks Semi-Brick by Import Mario Kart, SSBB

If you semi-bricked your Wii by performing the update on an imported Mario Kart disc (or similar game) that did not match your Wii’s region, and was wondering what you were going to do with your gimped Wii, you’re in luck. These ISOs are fix disc images that contain the latest update from Nintendo’s server for each Wii region, namely NTSU-J (Japan), NTSC-U (USA), and PAL (Europe). To restore your Wii back to its former glory:
- Download the correct rar file for your Wii region.
- For Japanese NTSC-J Wiis, use the v288 update
- For USA NTSC-U Wiis, use the v289 update
- For European PAL Wiis, use the v290 update
- Extract the ISO from the rar file.
- Burn the ISO to a DVD.
- Insert the burned DVD into your Wii.
- Allow the disc to run the update and your Wii firmware will be updated to the latest. This means inserting Mario Kart Wii again will not prompt you for an update.
These ISOs have been tested to work on all regions but make absolutely certain you are downloading the right update for your Wii otherwise you could fully brick it. Hopefully this will bring your Wii back from the brink.

At the time this was posted (May 22), v3.3 was not out yet. The updates will take you to the latest version as of May 22: v3.2. From there you can try to update to v3.3.

i have a 3.0u wii and i wont to update to 3.2u and the USA NTSC-U dvd will not work my wii is not miss up but i will love to update it i have slow internet and i do not have to money to buy a new wii game with that update and i have one dvd-r left so i need to get this working

I download the file but I can’t open the file. It says file is corrupt or damaged. I need the For USA NTSC-U Wiis, v289 update. Can anybody help me?
The file is good, it probably got corrupted while you were downloading it. Clean up your temp/cache files and try again or use a different download manager.

I downladed for Japan version , when I m extracting iso from zip its working fine , but excrating ISO gives errors damage file ? any HELP
your not meant to extract the iso, just burn the iso to disk and use.

Hey I’ve got a USA modded wii with 3.1U. When i load the mariokart, it asked me for an update, but i didn’t click OK as i do not know which region the disc is from. So i used your method and got my version to 3.2U but the disc still prompt me for an update.
What should i do?
I download the file but It just verifies it and doesnt tell me where to find the file. I cant save the file. I have winrar and still it wont work! AGHH!

Didn’t work, I’ve tried this and wii update manager to update to 3.2U_B but wii keeps saying system files are corrupted. Burn seemed ok verified by imgburn. Please help!
Hi, I don’t have a bricked or semi bricked wii. My System Version is 3.3U. If I use this disc, it will perform a downgrade? I’m looking to downgrade it to use TwilightHack, since I don’t have any SD card ready here. After installing HomebrewChannel I’ll update the system to 3.3U again.

I have a 3.3u US wii and accidently changed the region to europe and firmware to europe 3.2. Now my screen is flickering. I can still see pictures but the screen flickers really quick so i don’t really know what’s what. Is this going to fix it? Also will it work since I don’t have a mod chip? Please help. Thanks.

Semi-bricked my NTSC-J Wii with NTSC-U version of Wii music. Got my hands on a copy of Need For Speed (Japanese version)that had the latest update on it. I thought updating would fix my semi-bricked Wii but after the update nothing changed. Games all still work but cannot access settings and have extra Weather/News channels are still there, as before the update. I’m stuck! Is there anything I can do? Or I am stuck with a semi-bricked Wii?
As with the others I got an error using this “fix” disc, although it extracted and burned fine.

So i downloaded the v289 version for the NTSC- USA wii.. and so, i burned it 3 times with imgburn on verbatim discs.. and the wii was unable to read them..
then i tried a tdk disc and it still didn’t read…
then i tried a sony disc and it still didn’t read…
