Mii Hitler Banned

Looks like another strike for Hitler in the gaming world: first his Xbox Live Account was banned and now, he can’t even play as Super effing Mario anymore… at least not on Mario Kart Wii. If you log on with driver’s license account using a Mii named “Hitler” for some reason or another and you try to race it against other players on WFC, you will encounter this error:

You cannot access Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection using this Mii name. Please change your Mii name and try again.

It doesn’t matter if your Hitler Mii doesn’t even look like Hitler because this ban is name-based only. So it also means you could create a Mii with the likeness of Hitler and as long as you use a different name, it should go through. Why you’d want to do this is beyond me. So there you go, don’t go around making Miis named Hitler if you want to enjoy Nintendo’s online offerings. Who knows if this will go into effect in other games down the future?

And if you’re wondering how Hitler lost his XBLA account, here’s the story:

Can you really blame the game companies to avoid the name game with feelings being hurt? Kind of like curse words. Some one is going to try to push the envelope.

You can’t race under any kind of profanity, either. Try registering “asshole” as your mii and you’ll get the same message. Hell, we tried “Murderface” and it wouldn’t let us play. Hitler is just one of those things that the censor picks up.

I think it is wrong to ban Hitler. This is BS. He is an historical figure with a signficant impact on history. Banning him is like trying to cover up the past by burning books. This is a terriable idea!

I can UNDERSTAND why the Wii has now had to ban any references to Hitler. ALL video games with references to Hitler have had to be either BANNED or CENSORED because he was the WORST person EVER to have lived.

I race with my Hitler mii all the time.
Just spell the name only in caps and change the i to the weird greek letter that looks like a capital I.
