Recenlty i was trying to get a development environment setup on my new Windows 2008 computer, and was installing the typical Microsoft items. Little did i know that SharePoint 2007 wont install on Windows 2008:
Here is the error I ran into:

This version of Windows does not support this version of Office SharePoint Server 2007. This product, which was created by Microsoft Corporation, has been blocked from running because it might keep your computer from starting correctly in the future.
Recommendation

It turns out that SharePoint will install on Windows 2008 but only at SP1. What you have to do is create a Slipstream setup. You do this by copying the setup dvd to a disk directory, merging the service pack and then installing SharePoint. There is a good procedure here for doing it:
