It’s time to upgrade the memory in your brand new Asus Eee PC. Don’t worry. It’s really easy. The hardest part is buying the memory for the upgrade. Luckily for us, the Eee uses standard laptop memory - 200 pin DDR2 So-Dimm. I went with Crucial. You’ll have to buy only 1 so-dimm. Don’t purchase a pair.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- A set of precision screwdrivers
- The memory
- Of course, your Asus Eee PC

Okay, here we go.
You see that little yellow sticker? The one that says if it’s broken, you void the warranty. Yea, it’s not true. If you break the sticker, Asus will still honor your warranty. So go ahead and unscrew the two screws on the back panel. It’s a bit tricky. There’s two clips on the left and right side. They pop right out.
It should look like this:

Now to remove the old memory module, simply pry apart the two brackets holding the module in place. Be careful, don’t bend the brackets with too much force. If you have fat fingers like me, use two of the smaller precision screws drivers instead of your fingers. It should pop right out.

Remove the module:

This is important, you want to stick in the new memory module at a 45 degree angle. The module should be seated so that you don’t see any of the gold contacts.

Now just simply push it down until both brackets click and hold the memory in place.
Replace the cover and you’re done.
