[ # ] Use Your iPhone as a Boarding Pass at AA

Looks like you can use your iPhone as your boarding pass at American Airlines if you can present the barcode to scan. Though the idea has been around since last year, this is the first time I’ve heard of being able to use the iPhone to do so. Airline companies like Continental Airlines and Air Canada have already rolled out similar paperless boarding pass trials, but these have predominantly been done with Blackberries. To check in with your iPhone, you’ll need to be able to access your boarding pass as a PDF and display it on your screen for scanning. It might also help to have a cooperative airline attendant checking you in as many airlines, American Airlines included, don’t officially support iPhone check ins. Your best bet would be to find an airline like Continental that is equipped to handle electronic check in so you don’t catch them off guard. Of course having the paper copy of the boarding pass ready just in case goes without saying.
