[ # ] PlayStation Store Canada to Adjust Prices (Lower)

Ever since the US dollar’s value started is downward decline into oblivion, the Canadian loonie has quietly again grown to match its southern neighbor’s value, at times even surpassing it. For the longest time, retailers have always priced goods at a slightly higher price in Canada than in the US because for the longest time Canadian currency has been overshadowed by the US dollar. Now that the gap is basically closed, Canadians are having an outcry over the still-higher-than-in-the-US goods. We’ve all heard about the news of Canadians driving across the border into the US to buy vehicles, saving them thousands of dollars. But other than the occasional large purchase and unless you lived right near the border, it wasn’t practical to come to the US to buy anything. Retailers, knowing this, have been quite reluctant to lower their prices in Canada even still.

However, Sony is looking to change some of that, starting with the PlayStation store. Come tomorrow (May 1st), the prices of downloadable content will be adjusted based on the current exchange rate between the two countries. This means Canadians will be paying what Americans are paying… for once.
