PSP 3.95 Firmware released!

Sony just released a new PSP firmware. 3.95 is a minor update to what is already out. No word on when the mod’ed version will be out, but my guess is shortly.

Newly added features

PSP Firmware 3.95:

While playing PSone games on your PSP, you can now customize how the buttons are assigned by going to [Controller Settings] > [Assign Buttons] and select [Custom].

You can now quit Remote Play and choose to turn off your PS3 or leave it on after quitting. This is useful if you are performing a download and want to quit Remote Play, but still want your download to continue on the PS3. Select [Quit and Turn Off the PS3 System] or [Quit Without Turning Off the PS3 System] from [Quit Remote Play] when you press the HOME button on the PSP system.

And for those who don’t know. In japan the PSP already has GPS

(Linux/Unix) This is a screen-shot of my Sony PSP running firmware 3.95 GEN 2. I installed Ubuntu 7.10 v1.0 which was released a few days back. Unfortunately there is only a French version. Hopefully the English version will be released soon, so if English is your primary language, you may want to wait. Or just try the French version in the meantime.

PSP Firmware 4.0 flash0 decrypted, small issues for CFW devs
(PlayStation) The development team behind PSP Custom Firmware 3.95 GEN were able to get a snapshot of the flash0 directory of the recently released PSP Firmware 4.00. According to them, the latest firmware shouldn't be too difficult to adapt into a Custom version of the Firmware. Yes, this means we should be seeing one soon!
