It was only a matter of time when Asus would put Windows on the Eee PC. You can now pick one up at your local Best Buy store for $399. That’s right, it’s the same price as the Linux version.
However…
With all Window devices, you always get less than what you thought. If you are going to buy that Eee PC from Best Buy, you’ll need to know that you don’t have the option of expanding the internal memory with an SDHC memory card and that your warranty is only good for 1 year.
I just found out that the Memory card slot is there. In fact, they are including a 4G SDHC to make up for the size of Windows. Enjoy. Is Best Buy throwing us a curve ball? You be the judge about the memory card or no memory card. Link to BestBuy
Recommendation: With the windows version, you might encounter a little lag with some of the programs you’re used to. The tiny Eee PC Linux version already has trouble running Firefox with a few tabs open. You’ll also need to run a security suite in the background also. You don’t want any nasty viruses do you?
My pick would still be the Linux version.
