ComScore’s figures for the month of February are out and it’s official, Google’s search share has dropped globally from 63.1% to 62.8%. Hardly means anything, you say? Well Google’s search share over the past few months has declined 5% and when you factor in that there are around 6 billion searches performed in the US alone, it could mean that the Google behemoth is slowing down. Meanwhile, however, it gained a little ground in the States, up 59.2% from 58.5%. Yahoo and Microsoft’s search shares also went down, as were the number of searches performed globally. Could people be getting smarter, needing to use the Internet less to look things up? Did all schools suddenly assign less homework? Did February’s figures get screwed because it was missing a few days? (this Feb only has 29 days).
