TRIS - Or the game that calls itself TRIS is the touch version of the famous Tetris game of the past.  Like the iPhone everything in this game pretty much makes sense.

Just in case you have been in a cave for the past 20 years, Tetris (Russian: Тетрис) is a falling-blocks puzzle video game, released on a vast spectrum of platforms. Alexey Pajitnov originally designed and programmed the game in June 1985, while working for the Dorodnicyn Computing Centre of the Academy of Science of the USSR in Moscow. Pajitnov has cited pentominoes as a source of inspiration for the game.[citation needed] He derived its name from the Greek numerical prefix “tetra-”, as all of the pieces contain four segments, and tennis, Pajitnov’s favorite sport.

Controls for TRIS:  You use your finger to move the blocks around and tap the screen to change the rotation.  The controls are what you expect, but sometimes they dont respond as you would want them to.  I have found myself moving the blocks in the wrong places no and then, or sometimes chaning the rotation when I was just trying to drag the blocks around.  It’s a little annoying, and may take some getting used to.  Moving the blocks faster down turns into a jogging event for my fingers.  At harder levels, the controls may become almost impossiable, as registering a tap sometimes is slow.  What they should have dont was give you an option to have a fake controller on screen like the SNES emulator, just in case you didnt like the drag and tap….though i am not sure if that would be that much better.

Graphics:  The graphics of the game look great…err look as you would expect from Tetris.  Clean blocks, nice colors, and I am glad they put in the grid so it makes it easier to line up the blocks.  Another cool feature is that they put in a resume, so that if you left the game, you could pick it up later.

Overall Tris is a fairly good game and I would rate it as one of the top 5 at this time.  It does what it can with the controls but is lacking a little.  Good thing is its free, so why not put it on your iphone?
